Major Water Main Break in NW Calgary

Calgary's Water Supply in Critical Condition

City Residents Urged to Conserve Water

A major water main break in northwest Calgary has left the city's water supply situation in a critical state. The break occurred on 16th Avenue NW, causing significant flooding and disrupting the city's water distribution system.

The City of Calgary has confirmed the break and is actively working to repair it. However, the repair process is expected to take several hours, and in the meantime, residents are being urged to conserve water to ensure there is enough water for essential services.

The city's water treatment plants have temporarily halted operations due to the break, which means that no new water is being produced. As a result, the city's water reservoirs are rapidly depleting, and if the break is not repaired soon, the city may face a water shortage.

Residents are advised to follow the city's water conservation guidelines, which include limiting showers to five minutes or less, turning off taps when not in use, and avoiding watering lawns or washing vehicles. The city has also set up water filling stations at several locations for residents to collect water for essential needs.
