Youngsters impress as Atalanta secure victory in Bergamo

Giorgio Scalvini's first-half header proved to be the difference as Atalanta's youngsters began their UEFA Youth League campaign with a narrow 1-0 victory over Arsenal at the Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo on Wednesday.

There were four debuts for Atalanta in the starting lineup, with Archie Brown, Ebrima Darboe, Tommaso Barbieri, and Jacopo Da Riva all making their first appearances for the club at this level.

The quartet all played their part in a hard-fought victory that sees Atalanta top Group F after the opening round of matches.

Scalvini's header secures three points

Atalanta started the game brightly and took the lead in the 20th minute when Scalvini headed home from close range following a corner.

The visitors responded well to going behind and created several chances of their own, but they were unable to find an equalizer.

Atalanta hold on for victory
