University of Kassel Alumna Awarded Prestigious Fellowship

Assistant Professor Jennifer Koch Recognized for Research Excellence

Oklahoma Professor Earns National Science Foundation Grant

Jennifer Koch, an assistant professor in the Department of Geography and Environmental Sustainability at the University of Oklahoma, has been awarded a prestigious National Science Foundation (NSF) Faculty Early Career Development Program (CAREER) Award. The five-year grant will provide $500,000 to support her research on the impacts of climate change on water resources.

Koch's research focuses on the development of new methods for predicting how changes in climate will affect the availability and quality of water resources. Her work is particularly relevant to the semi-arid regions of the United States, where climate change is expected to have a significant impact on water availability.

"This grant will allow me to advance my research and develop new tools to help us better understand and predict the impacts of climate change on water resources," Koch said. "I am excited to have the opportunity to contribute to the scientific understanding of this critical issue."

Koch earned her doctorate in geoecology from the University of Kassel in Germany. She joined the University of Oklahoma in 2015 after completing a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of California, Berkeley.

The NSF CAREER Award is one of the most prestigious awards given to early-career faculty in the United States. The program supports promising young researchers who have the potential to make significant contributions to their field.
